Stat Content Type

Grinnell (and Others) by the Numbers

Student-faculty ratios. Class sizes. Numbers of internships, majors, and student groups. Numbers can help us tell the story of Grinnell clearly and concisely.

The Stat content type helps ensure we're all telling the same story and Statistics: 3 Columns makes sure the stats look their best when share them.

Overview

Unlike Page, News, or Group Info, Stats are not viewed on their own. You'll use Statistics: 3 Columns to add a set of three (3) stats to your webpage.

Example of a stats 3 column show two number of stats and one ratio, all with descriptions and CTA links

    Working with Stats

Always check to see if a Stat already exists for the information you're working with.

    1. Log into Drupal.
    2. Click Content in the black admin menu at the top of a page to open the content search.
    3. In Content Type, select Stat.
    4. In Title, enter a keyword or two.
    5. Click Filter.
    6. Browse the matches to see if your stat is already listed.
    7. Repeat with other logical keywords. The stat may not be worded exactly the same or may be outdated and have a different number.

    If you found that:

    • a Stat node already exists, do not add another. Update it if you can. If you can't. contact us to get it updated.
    • multiple Stats exist, contact us so we can remove duplicates and change the Statistics: 3 Columns in all areas to reference the same node.
    • no Stat yet exists, you can create the new node first or use Embed within a Statistics: 3 Columns to create it.

      Archiving (Deleting) Stats

If you no longer want your stat available for use, you can archive it to keep the public from seeing it.

Important! Before archiving a Stat, check to make sure it's not currently being used anywhere else.

      • Do a quick search of the site — using the caption or number — to see what areas may link to your Stat.
      • Remove the Stat from those pages or let the site editor know that you'll be removing the stat.
