ALSO Program Mission Statement
Alternate Language Study Option Program encourages students to explore less commonly taught foreign languages and cultures relevant to their academic and personal interests. It also empowers multilingual students to share their linguistic and cultural expertise with their peers.
ALSO Program Learning Outcomes
- Linguistic competence (Links to College-Wide Learning Outcome #3 and Global Education Learning Goal #5): Using the target language, students are able to communicate in spontaneous spoken or signed communication.
- Students are able to exchange information and ideas.
- Students are able to express and react to preferences, feelings, and opinions.
- Intercultural competence (Links to College-Wide Learning Outcome #3 and Global Education Learning Goal #5): Students are able to do one or both of the following:
- Students are able to identify typical products and practices in the target culture.
- Students are able to interact appropriately with others in and from the target culture.
- Independent learning (Links to College-Wide Learning Outcome #4): Students are able to learn independently and reflect on their learning experience and practices.
