Grants support local projects enhancing the quality of life in Grinnell.

Annual promotion has provided nearly $20,000 to schools in the past six years.

The College invites the public to celebrate the positive impact girls high school basketball has on Grinnell at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, in connection with the Hometown Teams: How Sports Shape America Smithsonian Traveling Exhibition at Drake Community Library.

"Hometown Teams," a Smithsonian Institution traveling exhibition that explores how sports shape America, will open in Grinnell on Friday, Feb. 15.

At 8 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, parents may begin registering their children for the fall session of the free Ignite Program, which will take place on campus Saturday, Nov. 17, for youngsters from prekindergarten through fourth grade.

The grants support local projects designed to enhance the quality of life in Grinnell

Updates include pedestrian-friendly features such as sidewalk patios.

Funds provide new books on diversity for middle school and high school students.
