Grinnell College will show William Shakespeare’s’ masterpiece, “King Lear,” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3, in Harris Center Cinema as part of Britain’s National Theatre Live encore production series.

Ed Fallon, climate activist and former state legislator from northeast Des Moines, will address the urgent need for action on climate disruption on Monday, March 4, 2019.

Over the past few months, the Grinnell community has been engaged in a complicated and often difficult debate about expanded student unionization on campus. To try to move forward, the College is initiating three steps: possible selective expansion of the UGSDW, a task force to address financial support for student success, and improving the academic component of student experiential learning.

Two-time Grammy®-nominated harpsichordist Jory Vinikour, mezzo-soprano Suzanne Lommler, and cellist Craig Trompeter will present a recital of baroque music at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, in Sebring-Lewis Hall.

David Shribman, former executive editor of Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, will lead a workshop on Feb. 18 and 19 to examine matters regarding journalism ethics, exploring both abstract questions and applications on the ground.

John Hassard, a physicist who researches energy and environmental issues at Imperial College London in the United Kingdom, will give the Scholars’ Convocation Lecture at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, in Room 101 of the Joe Rosenfield ’25 Center.

President Raynard S. Kington delivered the University of Iowa Health Care Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Lecture Jan. 23 in Iowa City.
