Harpsichordist Jory Vinikour
Vinikour, who also plays the organ, previously performed a solo recital at Grinnell College in 2015. He is recognized as one of the outstanding classical musicians of his generation. Born in Chicago, he studied in Paris on a Fulbright scholarship, which helped him launch a spectacular international career. Increasingly active as a conductor, he recently appeared with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Cleveland Orchestra, and the Aspen Festival.
Cellist Craig Trompeter
Trompeter, artistic director of Haymarket Opera, Chicago's baroque opera company, has been a musical presence in Chicago for more than 20 years. He has performed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Glimmerglass Festival, the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and the Valletta International Baroque Festival in Malta. In addition to the Baroque cello, Trompeter plays the viola da gamba, a bowed string instrument that first appeared in Europe in the late 15th century and later became one of the most popular Renaissance and Baroque instruments.
Mezzo-Soprano Suzanne Lommler
Lommler teaches voice at Grinnell College and Simpson College in Indianola. She has performed lead roles with Chicago’s Haymarket Opera (most recently the title role in Handel’s Serse), Bach's B minor Mass with Orchestra Iowa, and a recital with Vinikour at the Great Lakes Baroque Festival in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
