Recently, with funding from the Donald and Winifred Wilson Center for Innovation and Leadership, a group of Grinnellians were able to attend the first ever annual Socioeconomic Empowerment Summit in Chicago.

“It is important that young women who are pursuing degrees in economics hear from women in the field about opportunities and challenges,” said Mary Suiter, the St. Louis Fed’s economic education officer and an assistant vice president. “And it is crucial that these young women bring their perspectives, ideas, and talents to a profession that is still largely dominated by men.”

The Division III forum of the convention touched on themes related to ethics and athletics, enrollment management, and a review of legislative proposals such as rules regarding academic misconduct and legislated sanctions associated with sports wagering.

In the modern digital age, ideas on how to access and represent data and knowledge in Classics are rapidly evolving. Last year, the Wilson Center helped Shannon Riley ’17, a classics major, attend the Information Fluency in Classics Program.

Wilson Center sponsors students attending the nationally recognized program that promotes wellness and substance abuse prevention.

Teodora Cakarmis '17, a French and Political Science major, received funding from the Wilson Center for Innovation and Leadership to attend the 22nd session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP22) in Marrakech, Morocco.
