Schvalla Rivera has been promoted from Associate Vice President to Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She will continue in her other senior leadership roles as Chief Diversity Officer and Senior Advisor to the President.
Grinnell College has long identified a diverse community as one of its core values. But it is not enough simply to believe a value is intrinsic; it must be lived every day.
Given that our students are making good progress toward their degrees, despite a very difficult and intense year, Grinnell College will not offer classes in Summer 2021. We will work individually with the few students who need further academic credit on options towards the degree.
The work of Grinnell College is the work of democracy. When we gather to learn, deliberate, collaborate, and create together, we are putting into practice core democratic principles; we are aiding and supporting and contributing to society.
