Faculty Awards and Accomplishments

The faculty members recently shared the exciting research they pursued during a yearlong leave funded by the Harris Faculty Fellowship.

Associate Professor of Biology Idelle Cooper ’01 found herself back at Grinnell this fall — this time as a faculty member in the Department of Biology.

Eiren Shea, associate professor of art history and chair of the East Asian Studies Concentration, was recently awarded a conference support grant of €20,000 from the Fritz Thyssen Foundation.

Petrouchka Moïse, assistant professor and Cultural & Community-based Digital Curator in the Grinnell College Libraries, has been accepted as a 2023 research fellow at the Museum of Modern Art's (MoMA) Cisneros Institute.

Research opportunities enabled by this grant will enhance the education and experiences of Grinnell students, as Graham aligns his teaching and research projects with crucial issues such as climate change.

Quinsaat and her collaborator Nico Ravanilla, assistant professor of political science at the University of California-San Diego, have been awarded a $30,000 Pipeline Grant from the Russell Sage Foundation in support of their project, “Understanding Support for U.S. Conservative Politics among Filipino Immigrants."

The grant will allow Ortiz, assistant professor of chemistry, to launch a new line of research and apply her expertise in nanoparticle synthesis to the creation of “nanozymes.”

The eminent flute duo ZAWA! will perform “Snap!,” by Blanche Johnson Professor of Music John Rommereim, at the National Flute Association (NFA) Convention in Phoenix on August 4, 2023.
