Renfrow Hall Dedication

We celebrated the dedication of Renfrow Hall on September 28, 2024. Located downtown, Renfrow Hall will be home to Grinnell College students who have demonstrated a commitment and desire to build a stronger community. Together, we aimed to make the College an agent of civic trust, strengthening collaboration and discovery for positive change.

The special dedication weekend honored Mrs. Edith Renfrow Smith ’37: the building’s namesake, the College’s first Black alumna, its oldest living graduate, a Grinnell High School graduate and Hall of Fame inductee, and a groundbreaking and courageous human whose legacy of service, coalition-building, advocacy, and aspiration we uplifted and celebrated during these dedication events.
