Research Resources
Burling's Subject Guide for Research in German: This is a great place to start for research. Through the Grinnell libraries, students can access a variety of databases with secondary literature appropriate for German students. However, the long list of resources can be overwhelming, so here a few databases we find especially helpful:
JStor: A great resource for primary and secondary sources. It may not have the most recent resources.
Project Muse: This is similar to JStor but more focused on recent materials.
MLA International Bibliography: Located within the Literature Resource Center, this database has materials from 1926 to now, focusing on secondary sources about language, literature, linguistics, and folklore.
Reference Sources
Project Gutenberg: This website has a very extensive compilation of German literature. It gives a short biography of authors and provides many books online for free. Some books required for classes can be obtained online for free through Project Gutenberg.
Leo: This is an extremely popular German-English and English-German dictionary. With 170,000 entries, it is extremely comprehensive.
Wörterbuch für Akronyme: This can be helpful to students running across German acronyms in their day-to-day reading.
