Harris English Fellowship

Thanks to a generous gift from Mark Harris ’82, the Grinnell English department is pleased to offer various fellowships to support student research, creative experiences, experiential learning, and community-engaged projects. Harris English fellowships in the range of $100–$1000 will be awarded in the fall and the spring for projects begun and completed in fall 2024, spring 2025, or summer 2025.

The application requires original project proposals that must include:

  • a project description (250 words);
  • project rationale (250 words);
  • an itemized budget; and
  • timelines of activities.

End-of-project reports must be submitted by Feb. 14 for fall projects and by Aug. 29, 2025 for spring and summer projects.

Spring applications are due Feb. 24, and successful applicants will be notified by March 10. To be eligible, applicants must be full-time students at Grinnell currently majoring in English or enrolled in an English course at the time of the fellowship application.
