Yvette Aparicio

At Grinnell, Yvette Aparicio is Professor of Spanish and Latin American Studies. She teaches contemporary Latin American literature and cultures, Latin American Studies and Spanish. Her course offerings include Introduction to Latin American Studies (taught in English) and Latin American Food & Cultural Identities (taught in Spanish). Her research focuses on contemporary Central American literature and cultures. Her book Post-Conflict Central American Literature: Searching for Home and Longing to Belong (Bucknell UP, 2014) is an interdisciplinary study of poetry and short stories from neoliberal, post-conflict El Salvador and Nicaragua and Costa Rica. Her most recent work looks at Salvadoran-American poetry and its connections to and differences from post-conflict Salvadoran literature.
