What I love about my job: I love the opportunity to interact with students, especially through interviews. It is such a privilege to get to hear people’s stories and interact with them on their path to higher education!
What I love about Grinnell: As a former student at Grinnell, I love how much you can learn, both inside and outside the classroom. People at Grinnell are dedicated thinkers, and I love feeling inspired and provoked by their insights, perspectives, and knowledge. I also love how silent Grinnell can be, in a cozy and serene way.
Hobbies/activities: I love all things athletics, especially running, swimming, cycling, and ultimate frisbee. I also enjoy being outside on hikes and camping trips. My favorite activity is spending time with my family and friends.
Advice about searching for schools: You know more than you think you do! Reflect on your personal experiences thus far as a student and as a person that have made you feel passionate and eager to learn more. What about those experiences made them so exciting to you — was it the content, the people involved, the format? Search for schools that you think might provide you access to these areas of interest.
Advice about applying to schools: Applying to schools requires you to keep track of a lot of logistics and small details, so I recommend setting up a spreadsheet or calendar to make sure you are not missing anything important. Also remember to ask for help when you need it — nobody expects you to know about applying to college when you have never done it before! On a meta level, remember that at the end of the day, it will all work out, and there are many schools that any person can find success at.
