What you love about your territory: My travel territories are home to me and to many of the people I love most. I also count myself lucky to have such geographic and cultural diversity between my territories. During travel season, I can see beautiful landscapes ranging from lakes and forests to deserts and mountains and try out all kinds of delicious food along the way.
What you love about Grinnell: The people of Grinnell are unmatched. I had so many professors who closely mentored and advised me, constantly lifting me up and guiding me towards the opportunities that made my Grinnell experience incredible. I also made lifelong friends who are among the smartest, kindest, and most passionate people I've ever met. Every time I catch up with them, I'm hugely impressed by the work they're doing - making beautiful art, doing fascinating research, and helping make the world a better place. The night skies are pretty nice too!
Hobbies/activities: On my best days, I'm an avid reader, runner, and singer with a deep love for theatre. On lazier days, though, you can usually find me playing board games with friends and binging reality TV (Survivor and RuPaul's Drag Race are my favorites!).
Advice about searching for schools: Look at the other students applying to and attending these institutions. Are these people you want to be friends with? Are they people you want to be like? College can be four of the most formative years of your life. Make sure you're spending them with people you admire and respect.
Advice about applying for schools: Be organized! Every institution you apply to will have slightly different offerings, requirements, and deadlines. Consider making a spreadsheet keeping track of the qualities that are most important to you. Making a separate email account for college emails - that potentially both you and a trusted adult have access to - is also a good way to make sure you don't miss out on important news.
