Interim Assistant Dean of Academic Success
Kate (she/her/hers) joined the Academic Advising team in 2021 as the learning specialist. Kate helps students navigate their academic lives. Creating a supportive environment where students are held in unconditional positive regard is key to Kate’s approach to her one on one work with students. In addition to individual meetings, Kate teaches ASC 101: Scholars’ Seminar, which is a course on the scholarship of learning. Kate also visits classrooms to share mini-lessons on evidence based study strategies to help students be effective, efficient, and self-directed learners. Before joining the Academic Advising Team, Kate was a community college English professor and still teaches courses for the Liberal Arts in the Prison Program.
