Jill Harris
Coordinator of Community Development
Jill Harris is the Coordinator of Community Development in the Office of Community Partnerships, Planning, and Research. Her role includes, but is not limited to making connections for and collaborating with community partners to align resources and collectively solve issues that impact children and families. Jill is responsible for coordinating Summer Learning partners, leading AmeriCorps recruitment and onboarding, and supporting the Summer Learning activities. This encore career is a fulfilling and purposeful addition to her life.
Before joining the Grinnell College staff in this capacity, Jill was a public educator for 32 years. After retirement, she served as an AmeriCorps member and an AmeriCorps VISTA member for the Grinnell Education Partnership (GEP) and as the Project Coordinator for the GEP. She continues to advocate for equitable and excellent educational opportunities for children cradle to career. Jill graduated from William Penn University with a bachelor’s degree in music education. In her spare time, Jill serves on the boards and/or advisory committees of a number of community organizations. Spending time with her husband and traveling to Denver to make memories with her daughter are added joys.
