Coming from Syracuse University, de Graffenreid will begin work at Grinnell in June. De Graffenreid comes to Grinnell with more than 20 years of experience leading marketing and communications programs for higher education and academic medicine; she has also led award-winning integrated marketing communications programs that built national and international recognition for the institutions she served.

Writers@Grinnell wraps up the season with award-winning authors, Claire Lombardo and Rachel Yoder on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 4:15 p.m. in the Grinnell Museum of Art. The award winners for the spring writing contests will also be announced at the end of this event.

Coming from Tulane University, Gross to begin work at Grinnell this summer. As a member of the senior leadership team, Gross will provide strategic vision and direction for the college’s financial operations.

The 2022 Bachelor of Arts Exhibition (BAX), which features works in the creative arts by 36 third- and fourth-year Grinnell College students, will open on Friday, April 22, in the Grinnell College Museum of Art.

In Introduction to Material Culture Studies, students explore three materials — ceramics, wood, and textiles — through discussion, studio work, and journal reflections. They learn kinesthetically, across disciplines, in community, and with a focus on process.

Jivyaa Vaidya ’23 is the recipient of this year’s Fischlowitz Travel Fellowship and will use the opportunity to travel the United States and study street art and its impact on communities.

Grinnell is proud to welcome Dr. Bernice A. King, to speak at Commencement ceremonies at 10 a.m. on May 23 on Central Campus. King is carrying on her father’s mission of nonviolence and positive social change through her work as a global thought leader, orator, peace advocate, and as leader of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change (founded by her mother, Coretta Scott King in 1968).
