I write to you within the context of these very challenging times to provide recourse and resources for your well-being and to recall our stewardship of our community and of each other. I write especially to Grinnell students, wanting you to know how very much your faculty and staff care about you, as they live in these times with you.

JC Lopez answers a few questions about his life, work, and his Grinnell experience so far.

The plan, designed with insight from multiple studies, campus-wide and small group discussions, individual interviews, on-campus workshops, and contributions from divisions and departments, sets a course for strategic actions and implementations for the next seven years.

November 2-10, Grinnell College will play host to internationally-renowned vocalist, Christine Duncan. During her time on campus, she will work with music department students to develop vocal and improvisational skills.

The Externship Program helped Miranda Thomas ‘17 confirm her interest in veterinary medicine. Now a veterinarian herself, she returned as a mentor last spring to help current Grinnell students explore the field of veterinary medicine.

The Zimbabwe Mbira Ensemble welcomes all members of the community to engage with and experience music in new ways.

This year, GRH took place in Orlando, Fla. and featured presentations and professional development opportunities including some 30,000 guests and over 400 speakers. The donor-supported Diversity in Computer Science fund supported student participation in GRH. Students Mia Hines, Livia Stein Freitas, Dieu Anh Trinh and Hong Doan attended GRH with Computer Science Professor Nicole Eikmeier and look back at their time at the conference as informative and inspiring. 

Grinnell College is a global institution, one where events happening thousands of miles away are likely to personally impact students, staff, and faculty.  We are a community where more than 60 languages are spoken, which represents more than 40 nationalities, and which includes a broad diversity of ethnicities and religious affiliations. Over the past 24 hours, multiple messages have been sent through college platforms.
