Academic Advising

Although it’s voluntary to work with our office, we get to know more than half of the student body. We hope that will include you!
Greetings,
Congratulations on being admitted to Grinnell. Our team in the Academic Advising Office is thrilled for you!
Academic Advising is a resource to support your learning — one of many on campus. At Grinnell, you’ll have your own adviser: the faculty member who teaches your Tutorial serves that role. To complement that work, we collaborate with students who want to improve their learning or are navigating a barrier affecting their academics so they can flourish at Grinnell. We are student-centered and evidence-based in all of our interactions with students.
Through Academic Advising, current students can take advantage of 1:1 appointments and classes like Scholar’s Seminar (otherwise known as the art and science of learning) that support your continued development as a learner in this new, exciting environment.
We welcome your questions at advising@grinnell.edu. We also think incoming students will find the webpage Launching Your Journey: Academic Planning for New Students particularly helpful.
Although it’s voluntary to work with our office, we get to know more than half of the student body. We hope that will include you!
Best,
Joyce Stern
