Student Support and Advocacy within the Division of Student Affairs is available to provide assistance to students experiencing significant difficulties or crisis situations to ensure that each student has the opportunity to achieve their academic and co-curricular goals at Grinnell College. We provide a comprehensive approach to delivering care and support to students which includes advocacy, consultation, referrals to campus and community resources, follow-up services, and crisis prevention and intervention.
These situations may include but are not limited to:
- hospitalization
- mental health or well-being concerns
- medical emergency or long-term illness
- death of a family member
- off-campus living concerns
- unexpected events or challenges
If you aren’t sure where to begin regarding a student of concern, Student Support and Advocacy is a great place to start. We work in collaboration with a number of campus departments as well as community providers who work directly with students experiencing significant difficulties. Student Support and Advocacy will review the information and then strategize about the best way to reach out to the student. We strive to have the person reaching out be someone the student is already comfortable with.
Contact us at 641-269-3700, email Student Support and Advocacy, or complete the Report a Student of Concern form. You can also schedule an appointment with Student Support and Advocacy.
