Four English majors, led by Senior Lecturer Carolyn Jacobson, presented their Mentored Advanced Projects (MAPs) at the Midwest Modern Language Association Convention in Chicago.

The Grinnell Singers will present their fall concert titled “Songs of Earth” on Sunday, November 10, at 2 p.m. in Sebring-Lewis Hall.

A group of Grinnell alumni has created a fund to support a Mentored Advanced Project to study the history of concerts at Grinnell and Georgia Dentel, who made them possible.

Four Grinnell students are working with Professor Sarah Purcell ’92 to research the history of concerts at Grinnell. Their Mentored Advanced Project includes a focus on legendary Grinnell staff member Georgia Dentel.

Tatum Watkins ’27, a second-year political science major at Grinnell, served as a delegate at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago in August.

Mikel de Julián ’25 is named the 2024 Baumann Essay Prize recipient. His essay sought to understand the images emerging from Gaza and research a politically relevant historical question.

This summer, four Grinnell College students are collaborating with Chris Conway, visiting associate professor of cognitive psychology, to investigate attention and learning —along with other variables that can affect them, such as personality, musical experience, and stress levels.

Transforming lives and perspectives

Traveling to Cuba, Louisiana, and Brazil, 15 Grinnellians spent a semester studying the colonial legacy of sugar production.
