Vocal Gumbo to Perform at Herrick Chapel on April 7
As part of the Grinnell College Public Events concert series, Vocal Gumbo will perform at Herrick Chapel on Thursday, April 7, at 7:30 p.m. Vocal Gumbo features Janis Siegel and Lauren Kinhan with the Gabriel Espinosa Latin Jazz Quintet and guest Misha Tsiganov.
What
Dames of Jazz, Janis Siegel and Lauren Kinhan, recognized the need to create a place where vocalists could gather, perform, and celebrate the diversity of the singing arts. When COVID-19 hit, Siegel and Kinhan reoutfitted and rebranded their beloved monthly live vocal summit, Vocal Mania, and took to the virtual superhighways. Partnering with producer Laurie Green, they created a monthly collaborative performance space where artists from all over the world shared their work, created one-of-a-kind performances with Vocal Gumbo, and thrived during the bleak pandemic months. As they emerge from their home studios, Vocal Gumbo showcases many of the stunning arrangements and artists demonstrate the fierce tenacity and creative mojo this production house summoned while the world sequestered. Don’t miss Siegel and Kinhan’s debut with Gabriel Espinosa Latin Jazz Quintet and guest Misha Tsiganov at Herrick Chapel

Minors under the age of 18 need to be accompanied by an adult.
