Office of Communications and Marketing Clinches Four Awards at CASE District Competition

The Grinnell College Office of Communication and Marketing is proud to share its recent achievements at the CASE (Council for Advancement and Support of Education) District VI competition. The team clinched four awards, showcasing their excellence in communications and marketing. 

The awards, which reflect the outstanding work of the College’s communications and marketing professionals, highlight the diverse talents within the department. Here are the award-winning submissions: 

Writing: Profile (more than 1,000 words) 

At the CASE District competition, “Lessons from Plants,” a profile of Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Beronda Montgomery by Jackie Hartling Stolze, senior writer and editor, stood out as an award-winning piece. In her magazine feature, Stolze skillfully wrote about Dean Montgomery’s remarkable journey and impact on Grinnell College. Beyond career achievements, her writing revealed the dean’s personal interests, values, and motivations. 

Photography – Individual Photographs  

CASE celebrated the exceptional photography skills of Grinnell’s visual media manager, Justin Hayworth. His captivating photo, “Sunsets on the Prairie,” not only showcased the campus’ natural beauty, but also unveiled the remarkable talent behind the lens. The image wasn’t merely a snapshot; it was a testament to Grinnell College’s aesthetic charm and Hayworth’s artistic skill.  

Video: Student Audience  

The award-winning “Student of the Game” video was a team effort that highlighted the vibrant and dynamic student life at Grinnell College. It’s not your typical campus tour; instead, it’s a fun and engaging way to experience what it’s truly like to be part of the Grinnell College community. This video features real Grinnell College student athletes at work on the court and in the classroom, adding an exciting dimension to the portrayal of campus life.  

Marketing: Marketing Initiatives (25+ staff) 

The “Tips from the Experts” campaign, a collaborative effort with the Grinnell College Office of Admission, took a unique approach by going behind the scenes to address the questions that college applicants often have but might not know whom to ask. 

These CASE awards not only recognize the hard work and dedication of the staff in the Office of Communications and Marketing, but also highlight the College’s commitment to excellence in storytelling, visual representation, and marketing strategies.
