Institutional Identity Milestones to be Presented to Campus
Institutional Identity
All-Campus Milestone presentation
March 6 and 7
Noon, Harris Center Cinema
During these sessions, Patti Crane will provide a framework and an overview of their "Review & Reflection Paper,” which summarizes Crane's deep study of everything Grinnell: their numerous individual and group conversations with faculty, staff, and students; phone interviews with trustees, alumni, students, parents, and college counselors; and their thorough review of our institutional documents and history, including online and print materials, strategic planning reports, Art & Science findings, campus climate surveys, and more. Patti's presentations will provide you the opportunity to hear the Crane team's impressions of Grinnell’s distinctive qualities. They will also share insights into aspects of the College that they feel may be hampering our ability to present our best selves.
The second part of the presentation will be an unveiling of a first-draft "Promise Statement." This document, which builds on Crane's observations, will provide a first look at the thematic direction of Crane’s recommendations, and will deeply influence the eventual outcome of the work Crane is doing for us. It is vitally important to the success of this project that faculty and our whole community take the time to understand and reflect on Crane’s observations.
Lunch will be provided.
We would also like to take this opportunity to once again acknowledge the generous support of Trustee Steve Holtze ’68 and his wife, Elizabeth Alexander Holtze ’68, which made Crane’s identity work possible.
