Grinnell Welcomes Alumni to 2017 Reunion
June 2–4, 2017
More than 1,300 Grinnell College alumni, friends, and family will return to campus for the College’s 138th Alumni Reunion Weekend.
Alumni from 47 states, the District of Columbia, and 17 foreign countries including Australia, Austria, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Guatemala, India, Vietnam, Tanzania, and the United Kingdom, will return to Grinnell from June 2–4, 2017.
Reunion is one of the College’s biggest social events with parties, dances, dinners, and family activities.
Other weekend highlights include:
- an all-Reunion picnic,
- a special Honor G reception highlighting Grinnell athletics,
- a 5K fun run,
- class dinners,
- bike and walking tours of the campus and community,
- and a "Music in the Park" community concert by Jackie Myers ’06, a musician out of Austin, Texas.
The 50th reunion class of 1967 has arranged a lecture by George A. Drake ’56, "It WAS a Revolution!" on the impact of student voices on campus that blossomed in the 60s.
10 alumni will receive awards for service to their professions, the College, and community.
A number of special presentations are planned for the weekend including "The Career Pivot," a panel discussion regarding ways to make positive, focused and rewarding changes in your career.
Starting May 31, the Alumni College will hold courses on the theme of "Division in America," with lectures and workshops that explore how to create understanding, empower and educate, help us realize empathy for the “other,” and maybe even find ways we can bridge the gap.
