Grinnell to Host Ignite Program on April 16
Educational experience for local Pre-K-6 grades held at Grinnell College
Grinnell College will host the 2023 Ignite Program on Sunday April 16, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Registration will open on Monday, March 20, at 8 a.m. and will remain open until midnight Monday, April 3.
Ignite was last hosted in fall 2019 before taking a pause due to the pandemic. Grinnell College is excited to bring this program back through the partnership of the Office of Community, Partnerships, Planning, and Research and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Ignite brings local preschool through sixth grade students to Grinnell College, focusing on providing elementary and middle school students with a meaningful, educational experience and exposure and comfort on a college campus. Participating students take courses in unconventional subjects that are designed and taught by Grinnell College students. On Ignite Sunday, students will take two unique classes of their choice on a wide range of subjects.
Upcoming classes include Poetry Power, Strawberry Science, Owl Dissection: It’s a Hoot!, and Introduction to Computer Programming and more. All courses are both educational and fun! A full list of classes and the application form is now available.
Ignite is completely free and open to all students who wish to attend. All students will receive a snack and enjoy a story-time or game while waiting for pick up.
