2021 Commencement Ceremony

Dear Grinnellians,

I write today to share our decision that Grinnell College will host an in-person, outdoor commencement ceremony for graduating seniors on Friday, May 28, 2021, at 10 a.m. Spring 2021 graduates who will be off campus this spring will be invited to return to Grinnell and participate in commencement if they arrive with adequate time to quarantine and participate in campus testing protocols. On-campus housing will be provided if needed. Students may reach out to commencement@grinnell.edu for more information.

In light of current and projected community health conditions, we will not be able to invite families or guests including faculty, staff, and first-year through third-year students to attend this year's commencement. The ceremony will be available via livestream so that everyone can share in celebrating our graduates' tremendous contributions and accomplishments. More information will be forthcoming as those plans take shape, and current plans are subject to change as we continue to monitor public health conditions.

I am grateful for the compassion and resilience that our students, families, faculty, and staff have shown over this very challenging year. I look forward to honoring the dedication and commitment our graduates have demonstrated to their education at Grinnell.
