Announcing a Search for the Next Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs of Grinnell College
I am glad to announce that Grinnell College is beginning a search for the next Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs. I have asked Elaine Marzluff, chair of the faculty and Breid-McFarland Professor of Science, to serve as the chair of the selection advisory committee, and she has generously agreed to lead this most important work. This announcement is joined by my most profound thanks to Jerry Seaman, Interim Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs for his stewardship and guidance during this vital interim period.
We have engaged Isaacson Miller to be our partners in this search. Jeff Kessner and Andy Marshall will be working with us throughout the process and they plan to visit campus next week on Wednesday, October 16 and Thursday, October 17. Professor Marzluff and I are assembling the selection advisory committee, whose members will convene with our search firm for one of several scoping meetings to be held with multiple campus partners during next week’s visit.
I anticipate a completion date for this search in the spring, with profound thanks to Professor Marzluff and the selection advisory committee for their work, counsel, and discernment in shaping and guiding the search, and providing me with recommendations for the next Dean of the College and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Grinnell College.
Sincerely,
Anne F. Harris
President
