The Rosenfield Program in Public Affairs, International Relations, and Human Rights prepares students for a lifetime of civic engagement and connects the Grinnell community to the broader social and political issues that define the world beyond Grinnell. The program enriches the College curriculum by bringing distinguished scholars, public servants, and commentators to campus. Other initiatives include funding student internships and sponsoring study tours. Rosenfield Program activities contribute to Grinnell’s tradition of social responsibility and help to build a lively academic community that links Grinnell students to the world.
A Note from the Director
Greetings from the Rosenfield Program as spring semester begins. Don’t miss the College’s MLK Day event — to be held on Jan. 26, 2024, at 6 p.m. in [Rosenfield Center] JRC [Room} 101 — featuring Justice Alan Page. Programming this semester will also include a panel event organized by Valery Lopez, a student member of the Rosenfield Program Committee; “Marshalltown’s Immigrant Narratives” will be at 4 p.m. on Feb. 15. And a week later, the Feb. 22 convocation speaker will be Luis Fabiano de Assis (Center for Human Rights and International Justice at Stanford University), who will speak about the use of data, including artificial intelligence, to address human trafficking. Other events and programming in the works, including prep for participants in the “Politics of Artificial Intelligence” Spring Break study tour, co-sponsored with CLS. Best wishes for a productive semester.
