Amanda Preperato

Amanda Preperato joined Grinnell College in 2023 as the director of the Grinnell Outdoor Recreation Program (GORP).
 
Preperato came to Grinnell from the University of Maryland-College Park, where she served as assistant director of Student Development and the Adventure Program. Her duties included leading a comprehensive adventure recreation and education program designed to meet the diverse needs of campus. She also taught numerous classes and served on multiple committees.
 
Perperato also oversaw recruitment, hiring, administration, training and development of all department student-employees, and also provided direction and support for three full-time coordinators.
 
Prior to that, she served as assistant director of the Adventure Program and Coordinator of Trips at UMD, and before that was a graduate assistant for the Outdoor Recreation Adventure Center (ORAC) at Western Kentucky University.
 
In 2021, she earned the University System of Maryland Board of Regents Staff Award for Inclusion, Multiculturalism and Social Justice.
 
Preperato earned a bachelor's degree in Earth Science with a minor in Anthropology at the University of Northern Iowa. She has a master's degree in Recreation and Sport Administration with an emphasis on Outdoor Leadership from Western Kentucky University.
