Residence halls remain open during fall, Thanksgiving, and spring breaks. Residence halls are closed to most students during summer and winter breaks.
See the Five-Year Academic Calendar for details about when residence halls are open and closed. Students are reminded to make travel arrangements accordingly.
Summer Housing
Summer housing is intended for: students working on-campus, studying, completing a local internship, and for students who have nowhere else to go.
Students approved for summer housing will relocate to one of the on-campus houses or Cleveland Hall for the summer. To be eligible for summer housing, students must complete the summer housing application in the housing portal by April 29th.
The summer housing application opens March 1 in the housing portal each year. Students are encouraged to apply early, as spaces are limited and fill up fast. Summer housing costs will be listed on the application in the housing portal. As a reminder, financial aid is not available for summer housing/dining. Students working on-campus over the summer can set up payroll deductions to pay for summer housing.
Winter Break Housing
Winter Break housing is intended for:
- international students,
- students with an international address,
- and students with a significant need approved through Res Life.
Should a student need break housing during any portion of the break, the student must submit the winter break application on the housing portal by the deadline. The application opens on October 1st and closes on November 15th each year.
Students approved for Winter Break housing will stay in their current on-campus housing assignment and are expected to follow all winter break policies, as outlined in the student handbook.
