On-Campus Visits

See yourself here.

This is where you’ll try new things and dig deeper into your interests. Where you’ll meet people who become your friends and mentors for life. For four years, you’ll live here. And although that story looks different for every Grinnellian, there's a great way to see what yours could look like: by coming to campus.

Individualize Your Visit

When you arrive for your visit, you have a lot to choose from in getting to know Grinnell. Explore our buildings and classrooms. Attend an information session. Ask current students what it’s like to be a Grinnellian. Discuss academic programs, the application process, and more with an admission counselor. Enjoy a meal in our beautiful Marketplace Dining Hall.

Campus Tour

Allow one of our student tour guides to show you their favorite places on campus. Our campus is extremely walkable, with all academic buildings just a few minutes from the residence halls. Explore our academic buildings, residence halls, athletic facilities, dining hall, and more. Along the way, your guide will give you a great sense of what it's like to be a Grinnellian.

Information Session

During your visit, our admission counselors will hold an info session that covers a lot of ground: our academic programs, career development services, internship and research opportunities, admission requirements, and need- and merit-based financial aid opportunities.

Interview

Set up an interview with a fourth-year student or an admission counselor. Interviews are a two-way street: we get to learn more about you and you get to learn more about us in a one-on-one setting. Please note that interviews are completely optional and not required for admission, but they are included as part of our evaluation of your application. Interviews also are a great way to demonstrate interest in Grinnell.

Classroom Visit

High school seniors and prospective transfer students are invited to sit in on faculty-approved courses during their visit to campus. Upon checking in at the Admission & Student Financial Services building, students will be able to choose classes from a roster. Please note that class visits usually last 50 minutes and are only available during the academic year when class is in session.

Meet with the Office of Financial Aid

Grinnell College is dedicated to assisting families in managing the cost of a Grinnell education, and we assert our commitment to admitted students by meeting 100% of demonstrated need with no loans. If you are a high school senior and your family has specific questions about financial aid at Grinnell College, we welcome drop-in meetings with a financial aid counselor on your visit day (these cannot be scheduled in advance, and are based upon availability), or you can register for an virtual or phone appointment with the Office of Financial Aid after your visit if you have lingering, specific questions.

Talk with faculty, athletic coaches, and staff

Want to meet a faculty member, athletic coach, music director, or someone else on campus? Please reach out directly to whoever it is you'd like to set up an appointment with and factor this into your on-campus visit itinerary! Our coaches, faculty, and staff are available via email or phone to set up your meeting. Please note that faculty appointments are not available during the summer, or during mid-semester and final exam weeks, breaks and holidays, or weekends.

Grinnell College welcomes individuals with disabilities and strives to provide the fullest access possible during the visit process. If any member of your party requires an accommodation as the result of a disability, you must request accommodations at least two weeks in advance of your scheduled visit to ensure that the fullest range of accommodation options are available. It may not be possible to meet all requested accommodations when accommodations are requested fewer than two weeks in advance.
